Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate)
Built in 1791, The Brandenburg Gate is the signature attraction of Berlin. Laid at its feet is the Pariser Platz, housing many of Berlin’s important buildings including the Academy of the Arts and the Hotel Adlon. It is also the entry to Unter den Linden, a beautiful boulevard of linden trees leading directly up to City Palace.
Schloss Charlottenburg (Charlottenburg Palace)
Built at the end of the 17th century and expanded in the 18th century, Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin. Originally home to Frederick I, King of Prussia, the palace is now a tourist attraction featuring an expansive garden, theatre, mausoleum, and pavilion.
Potsdamer Platz (Potsdamer Place)
Named for the city of Potsdam, Potsdamer Place marks the point where the old road from Potsdam passed through Berlins’s city wall at Potsdam gate. The site of some of Berlin’s newest construction, visitors can delight at the many shops and restaurants in town. A must see, and if you’re staying nearby, a great place to grab dinner.
